I did my internship at Activate your Business from 14 April to 24 July 2020. The company is specialized in creating websites. During my ten-week internship, I was supervised by Paul te Riele. You can find here what my activities were during my internship at Activate your Business.

Learning goals and tasks

My work during my internship at Activate your Business was: website design, front-end, development and creating and posting social media, to get to know the style of Activate your Business.

This is briefly what my activities were. Designing includes creating mood boards, making sketches and taking stock of the client’s wishes and needs. Front-end and social media posts speak for themselves.

Design

In this section, I was mainly concerned with responsive design. For this, we use the following method: you always design within 12 columns. Activate your Business works with bootstrap and they also deal with color psychology. The goal and vision of the client is the most important thing during design. During my internship, I had the opportunity to work on several websites, including: FlowerUp, Saidia Kwale and SimpleSync. Development

After designing a website, I was asked to develop it. They did this in scss and php. I had no experience with this at the beginning of my internship, so it was a nice challenge. They explained and supported me from the beginning. Meanwhile, I can find my way around in php and scss.

What will I take with me?

What have I learned and what will I definitely take with me to new projects? That when you design it and then have to develop it yourself, you automatically design in a different way and deliver things better. For example, when using images, you should all use the same dimensions of mockups if possible.
